They are a set of various Penguin classics with covers designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith, a British graphic designer. She did an initial series of ten, but you can only get these eight in the States (and took quite a while for them to become available here, too.) She recently did a second series of another ten and they just became available a few days ago. You can see her work at her website: http://www.cb-smith.com/ They're so pretty.
Incidentally, one of the new ten is Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, which we were just talking about. Looking Glass is the sequel, but it has the White Queen and the Red Queen (who is a different character entirely from the Queen of Hearts). The new movie combined elements of both books. The movie we grew up with was adapted from the first book.
I am a big proponent of the Oxford comma, I hate when people say "I could care less" when they actually mean "I couldn't care less", I think people who live in the southern hemisphere are tragic because their Christmas comes in the summer.
I am in love with those books! Are they a set, or do they just look like it?
