I think you must have been. They're a trilogy of books written by a Swedish author. They're worldwide bestsellers, have been the first real success of a translated novel in the US, have been made into blockbuster movies in Sweden, and are going to be re-made into movies here. Actresses all over Hollywood are vying for the lead role. (If they give it to Kristen Stewart, I'll hurl.)
Sadly, the author himself died unexpectedly of a heart attack without ever knowing what a huge success he was. He had no will and his estate (now worth hundreds of millions) went to his father and brother and not his live-in girlfriend of 30 years (Sweden does not recognize common-law marriage) so now they're engaged in a nasty fight over the rights.
I am a big proponent of the Oxford comma, I hate when people say "I could care less" when they actually mean "I couldn't care less", I think people who live in the southern hemisphere are tragic because their Christmas comes in the summer.
Let me know if they live up to it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of these -- have I been living under a rock?

Hmmm, very interesting. I should come out of my rock more often. Thanks for catching me up! (And I totally agree about the Kristen Stewart comment.)
